Spring Recap

Spring Session just wrapped up – and we had a blast!  Students with an interest in fashion came from all over SoCal for our two-day Fashion Camp.  We kicked off at South Coast Plaza’s Bloomingdale’s for a some styling experience and tips for hosting your own fashion show.

Then Saturday, we met at Orange Coast College for a packed day – first, we met Barbara Higgins, a photographer with a particular interest in fashion.  Barbara led us all in an impromptu photo shoot, giving all the campers a professional headshot for their portfolios, or their blogs…which leads us to our second guest, Christopher Luu of Julib.com.  Christopher is an esteemed fashion writer who focuses on luxury goods.  Christopher told the campers all about his experiences, then helped as they tried their hand at blogging…definitely not as easy at it seems!

In the afternoon, Rene Heinz Baldwin, head of Volcom Swim, joined us, shared her story and kicked off our first design project – a 30-minute, timed t-shirt re-design contest.  And the campers killed it!  Such talent…  We ended the day with some draping and design, using tissue paper to create dresses on dress forms – the designs were so stunning, we wanted them for our own!
